When each of our baby girls were born, I saw a wisdom, an intelligence in their brand new eyes that made it clear to me that these children weren’t at their beginning. Oh sure, their bodies were just getting started, but there was a depth in their eyes that comes from years of learning. Now somewhere between six months and a year, that changed and they took on a more baby-like appearance. But at birth, it was evident that they hadn’t forgotten everything about the glorious heaven they had just left. This was another very real witness to me that birth is not where man commences. Babies are grown up spirits fresh from God’s beautiful world where they have been prepared to take on earth life and make the most of it.
(Since Eden got her own song—“Eden’s Garden”, I decided it best to dedicate this one to Hannah and Eliza.)
