Jesus’ whole life was a miracle—from the virgin birth in Bethlehem, to the laying down of His own life on the cross, to His taking it up again. And every miracle was for us—always doing those things that pleased His Father. (See John 8: 29.) Always about His Father’s business! (See Luke 2: 49.) And through it all, one woman knew Him best—His beloved mother, Mary. Who else, from the beginning, was more familiar with His miraculous life than she? And “Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart” (Luke 2: 19). What she understood, she accepted, and what she did not understand, she trusted…that He might work His miracle for her. Woman, behold thy Son.
