I agree, Dennis. Our "nothingness" along with our weakness is about our fallen, mortal state. Our spirits are not nothing. They are everything to God. We are His, and He is intent on, through the instrumentality of His Son, making us into the image and likeness of His Son. I am so grateful to know that He is that committed. Blessings to you, brother! :)

Kenneth,

I have been significantly reduced as I read your teachings. I believe that the weakness that Christ refers to in general is our mortal state. We are mortal, so we have weakness. A weakness that he overcomes for us through the atonement. His grace is sufficient.

As I have occasionally been complimented or congratulated for serving in church callings over the years, I have often been uncomfortable with the customary response of "Thank you" because I knew it was not me.

I believe we do make it more difficult on ourselves when we think we are part of the formula, when really we are not. We are part of the process and the recipients of His divine grace.

Thanks for taking the time to make this insightful comment, Sara! I pray that we will all come to know our Lord, recognize the Spiritual life that flows from Him to us, and remember Him always.
Blessings to you and to all whom you love! :)

Kenneth, thank you for your beautiful post. I especially loved the wording of the message in the last paragraph.

The doctrine you addressed in this post is indeed profound, and most likely more so than we at times realize. Yesterday a friend and I were recounting it as King Benjamin presents it in Mosiah 4:8-12. It is glorious indeed that as we:

11 ..."remember, and always retain in remembrance, the greatness of God and your own nothingness, and his goodness and long-suffering towards you, unworthy creatures, and humble yourselves even in the depths of humility, calling on the name of the Lord daily, and standing steadfastly in the faith of that which is to come ...

12 ...if ye do this ye shall always rejoice, and be filled with the love of God, and always retain a remission of your sins; and ye shall grow in the knowledge of the glory of him that created you, or in the knowledge of that which is just and true.

and then, the blessings of vs 13-16 will easily and effortless flow to us and from us because we are firmly grounded and filled with Christ's fruits, attributes and love.

Who would have dreamed that it could be so simple and that we could remain so joyously content and in love with being a small branch nourished by the true Vine.
